File Authentication

File Authentication allows the experimenter to limit the names with which subjects can connect to the multistage server, by checking the names entered against those in a list contained in a file in the bin directory of the multistage installation.

Enabling File Authentication

To enable File Authentication, the experimenter needs to change the verifier parameter in the mult-server.properties file, located in the conf subdirectory of the multistage installation.

verifier=File

Configuring File Authentication

Once this change is made, the experimenter needs to create the list of acceptable login names. Create a file in the bin subdirectory of the multistage installation called auth-file.txt and fill it with the required names, one per line.

For example an auth-file.txt containing the following lines:

Name1
Name2
4758
33871
name@domain.com

would allow users to log in with any of five different names, as listed in the file.
